Deer Recovery

You shot a big one, what’s next?

  1. Try and obtain pictures of blood for an additional opinion.
  2. If the blood trail runs thin or you lose confidence, back out! Bumping wounded deer significantly decreases the chances of a recovery.
  3. Call us at (910-303-7908) with information about location, blood, and your schedule. If we do not answer the phone please leave a message and/or text us. Thermal Drones can find deer 24+ hours post mortem. However, we recommended that you call (day or night) and notify us of the situation ASAP.
  4. We will then confirm that the location provided is within operable UAV airspace, and dispatch an operator from either Raleigh or Fayetteville, NC.
  5. Leave your guns at home. Thermal Bird LLC will not assist in the hunting of a wildlife resource in any way.

How do we do it?

We will usually burn the first battery (~30 mins) searching in the first few hundred yards you think the deer ran. This will include checking nearby water sources. If the deer isn’t found at first, we will then switch batteries while we map out an area with flightlines and program the drone to fly autonomously. We will walk the drone at a slow cruise speed while we monitor for heat signatures captured by a Thermal-Infrared (TIR) camera. When we come across a heat signature, we will pause the flight, switch to the conventional multispectral RGB camera and see if its your deer. For nocturnal recoveries we will use a 1800 lumen spotlight for RGB camera confirmation.

Pricing

Thermal Bird LLC is currently operating at $250 to dispatch and an additional $100 if your deer is recovered. A mileage fee will be added for non-local searches. We currently accept Cash, Checks, Venmo, Zelle and CashApp.
